1957 Established Hankuk Glass Industries;
commenced commercial production of flat glass at Incheon Plant.

1965 Established a tube glass plant with up-to-date facilities and expanded the flat glass plant.

1973 Acquired Dongsung Glass, a supplier of flat glass, under a government-led industrial reorganization program.

1974 Hankuk Electric Glass began producing TV Braun tube glass, a major component of TVs and monitors.

1977

Introduced the world's most up-to-date production process, "Float Process," from Pilkington. First Gunsan Float Plant went into operation in 1981.

1980 Commenced mass-production of insulating glass.

1984 Second Gunsan Float Glass Line was dedicated.
Signed a technical tie-up with lsover Saint Gobain of France for thermal and acoustic insulation glass wool.

1985 Founded Hankuk Safety Glass Co.,Ltd. for the production of automotive safety glass.

1989 Adopted "HanGlas" as major corporate brand of HanGlas Group;
Established Hankuk Specialty Glass jointly with Toshiba Glass; Hankuk Vetrotex with Saint-Gobain Group.

1993 Established Namwoo Glass Industries in Nanjing, China.

1996 Established Hankuk Lighting Glass in Gwangju and Hankuk Haniso in Incheon.

 

1997

Established PT Sinar Baru Glasindo jointly with Asahi Techono Glass in indonesia; Saint-Gobain Sekurit HanGlas Polska in Poland.
 

1998 Formed a capital and technical tie-up with Saint-Gobain to expand its production line to Northeast Asia.

2000 February : Established Korea BST specializing in the import and marketing of pharmaceutical tube glass supplied by Schott Glass Enterprises.
March : Acquired a 40% equity of Cheil Glass Industrial, Korea's No. 1 producer of processed products for industrial applications.

September : Hankuk Sekurit took over Hankuk Safety Glass.

November : Acquired Rongcheng Fuchang Siliceous Materials (RFSM) of China to secure a stable supply of raw materials.

December : Established SPDi for exclusive production of SPD (suspended particle devices) glass, which HanGlas has developed for the first time in the world after years of intensive research.

2001 May : HanGlas acquired a 100% interest of China's Kunshan Yongxin Glassware, a leading manufacturer of microwave oven trays and heat-resistance glassware.

June : Hankuk Glass industries received the first Transparent Accounting Award

July : Started construction of a SPD production plant in Incheon

September : Acquired a 74% equity of Saint-Gobain HanGlas Nanjin Inc. (formerly Namwoo Glass) in China for expanded production of figured glass in China; relocated the figured glass plant in Busan, Korea, to the Chinese plant.

2002 Established SGH-Asia jointly Saint-Gobain as part of its marketing strategy geared to East Asia; SGH-Shanghai (sales firm) in Shanghai, China; SGH-Japan (sales firm) in Tokyo, Japan.

2003 Jan : Established HanGlas Safety Glass (Shanghai) Inc. to ensure steady growth of safety glass sales in China.

October : Acquired Taiyang Glass Inc. based in Qingdao, China, and changed its name to SGH-Qingdao.

2004 Established Korea's largest glass wool plant in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, Korea, to secure a stable supply of high-quality glass wool products.
